Youth Elite Development Program (EDP)

Hong Kong, China Ice Hockey Association’s youth Elite Development Program “EDP”provides a high-performance-based foundation for the game of ice hockey in Hong Kong. It is aimed to foster personal growth for hockey players between the ages of 2007 -2012 born and will follow a disciplined program specifically set for age-appropriate athletic and personal development on and off the ice.

The EDP draws upon a deep and talented pool of professionals, these are experienced and committed coaches/instructors (specialists in technical and power skating, edgework, stick handling, shooting and body contact), external advisors (many with NCAA, OHL, NHL and international professional experience), and players from the Hong Kong region. It aims to prepare the [2009-2012 players] or [the U16, U18 and U20 teams] for international competitions representing Hong Kong.

The elite program is divided into two stages and will kick off with the government supported “2024 elite hockey training”. A tryout will be apply for the players entitle to this programs for both stage one and two.

Stage one with the government supported “2024 elite hockey training” will be on ice training focusing on skating, shooting, drill and game / team strategy.

Stage two training with a larger age group will further enhance and complement the on ice/off ice training with video sessions, physical / dryland training and mental performance training to develop the players for our national team programs.

### Program Highlights:

  • Expert Coaching: Our newly appointed experienced coaches have an extensive resume, proven AAA coaching tracker record and will provide professional training and mentorship. They will establish the proper mindset through open communication and ensuring players have the strong character and values.
  • Comprehensive Training: These training sessions will be designed specifically for the age group and skill level, incorporating on-ice practices with off-ice conditioning and game strategy sessions. We believe this will ensure a well-rounded high level understanding of the game and team play.
  • Team Building: Players will engage in team-building activities that foster collaboration, communication, and sportsmanship.
  • Competitive Opportunities: selected players will have the chance to compete in overseas tournaments to gain valuable game experience for their future development in our adult national team program.
